The day after our grand adventure of hiking Mt. Kathadin in the rain was a little slower paced as we decided we would go check out the new National Monument Kathadin Woods and Waters.

We learned about the new National Monument a few days prior while walking down the main drag (Penobscot Ave) when we popped our head into a small makeshift storefront that was promoting the Monument. We picked up a map and as finding the park in the back roads of Maine isn't exactly obvious as well as signage is less than adequate on the way so the park ranger gave us detailed directions to help us so we didn't get lost.
Everyone was tired from our hike a day earlier and we figured it would be partly ad adventure driving off road threw the park as well as we really had nothing else planned for the day so it worked for everyone to make it our plan for the day.
Unlike the day prior, blue skies again greeted us and we visibility was mostly clear. The weather actually was 180 turn around from the day earlier and there wasn't one of us that didn't wish we would have waited out the storm and hiked Katahdin this day.
