U2's Joshua Tree was a life changing album.  There was so much hype in 1987 when it was released and I even had the opportunity to see them perform in Detroit's Silverdome.

I had visited Joshua Tree NP in the spring of 2025 and talked with a park ranger at the visitor's center.  One would assume the photos from the Joshua Tree album covers were from Joshua Tree National park, however rare a Joshua Tree is you'll find them all over the desert between Joshua Tree NP and Death Valley NP and all along Rt 395.  I learned from the park ranger that none of the pictures from U2 are from the Joshua Tree National park so the curiosity got the best of me.

My friend Matt wanted to climb Telescope peak later in the fall of 2025 and I had remembered that the park ranger had suggested the album photos were taken near Death Valley.  I did a little sleuthing and figured out this mile marker would be right along our path to Telescope Peak so we put the album on repeat in the car as we made our way to find the trailhead and go explore the site.
